Through this activity, the students discovered that algorithmic thinking is necessary in everyday life.

They developed algorithmic thinking by building a monster through sequential stages.

Tinker 1 students came up with step by step instructions of how to create their own monsters.

“To create your own monster, you have to imagine one. When I was creating my monster above, I cut pieces of colored paper and glued them together.”

We compared the monsters we created, and asked why some were different from the original even though everyone had followed the same script.

The Computer Science behind it

From this activity, Scratch Juniors learnt what an algorithm is (a step by step procedure of solving a problem).
